Kai Tak NKIL 6568 (Heavy Lifting System – Temporary Working Platform)

Posted on December 8th, 2021

Goldwave’s ingenious heavy lifting system creates a breakthrough to turn “impossible mission” to possible solution. In this project, Goldwave design, fabricates and hoists up 5 irregular service decks within extremely compact spacing (from approx. 10-18 meters) from 5th floor to 28th floor to support the construction of a massive concrete transfer slab permanently in place on the 29th floor.

The service decks also serve as safety working platforms for site workers to carry out the remaining works for the transfer slap installation. 5 temporary protection platforms are to be installed as a safety measure to mitigate the risk of falling objects to protect workers during the construction period of service decks.

The Massive Steel Turntable Structure measuring 21 meters in diameter was to rotate the permanent footbridge (46 Meters) and vehicular bridge (52 Meters) to the designated position, which was right above the life operation of Light Rail. This innovative erection method was unprecedented in Hong Kong.

Taiwai Station Property Development

Posted on December 8th, 2021

Goldwave Structural Steel Engineering Limited was honored to be selected by Hip Sheng Construction Co., Ltd. to participate in the Tai Wai Station Property Development. The development covered a site area of 600,000 sq ft of shopping space and 2.7 million sq ft of residential space.

This project included a 5-floor mega podium structure steelwork, extending from 1 steel podium and steel platform which were built above the existing rooftop of Tai Wai station. In addition, 4 brand new podiums and steel platforms were built on the existing passenger transportation interchange.

Goldwave’s large span truss solution provided an elegant, cost-effective method of spanning long distances. The “extensive use of 27-meter long Steel Trusses” allowed larger column free spaces to provide maximum flexibility for the internal layouts and enhance user experience.

The Spaces between the trusses accommodate the Building Services and can be used on occasions to provide areas of enhanced headroom as may be needed.

2 newly built bridges are to be connected to the Interchange across Che Hung Mui Road and Mei Tin Road.

Along with this vast development, the project demanded for the substantial scale of temporary platforms and steel ramps to support the construction of new podiums and the basement structure adjacent to the existing rail track of East Rail. Total steel consumption of temporary and permanent works reached 15,000 Tons.
