Kai Tak NKIL 6568 (Heavy Lifting System – Temporary Working Platform)

Posted on December 8th, 2021

Goldwave’s ingenious heavy lifting system creates a breakthrough to turn “impossible mission” to possible solution. In this project, Goldwave design, fabricate and hoist up 5 irregular service decks within extreme compact spacing (from approx. 10-18 meters) from 5th floor to 28th floor to support the construction of a massive concrete transfer slab permanently in place at 29th floor.

The service decks are also as serves safety working platform for site workers to carry out remaining works for the transfer slap installation. 5 temporary protection platforms are installed as safety measure to mitigate the risk of falling objects to protect workers during the construction period of service decks.

Goldwave Structural Steel Engineering Limited is honored to be selected by Hip Sheng Construction Co., Ltd. to participate the Tai Wai Station Property Development. The development covered a site area of 600,000 sq ft of shopping space and 2.7 million sq ft of residential space.

This project included a 5-floor mega podium structure steel work, extending from 1 steel podium and steel platform which are to be built above the existing roof top of Tai Wai station. In addition to 4 brand new podiums and steel platforms would be built on the existing passenger transportation interchange.

Goldwave’s large span truss solution provides an elegant, cost-effective method of spanning long distances. The “ extensive use of 27 meters Steel Trusses” at this site allows for larger column free spaces providing maximum flexibility for the internal layouts and enhanced user experience.

The spaces between trusses accommodate the Building Services and can be used on occasions to provide areas of enhanced headroom as may be needed.

2 newly built bridges were to be connected the Interchange across Che Hung Mui Road and Mei Tin Road.

Along with this vast development, the project demanded for substantial scale of temporary platforms and steel ramp to support the construction of new podiums and the basement structure adjacent to the existing rail track of East Rail. Total steel consumption for temporary and permanent works reached 15,000 Tons.
